New solar powered community planned for Henderson
With energy bills skyrocketing, solar power is becoming a much more viable way to power homes. One developer is already one step ahead of the game in Las Vegas.
Concordia Homes is planning a new development in Henderson that will be the first solar powered development in the Las Vegas area. The company is able to make the project financially viable through using construction materials with GE technology. The materials create a nearly airtight home.
The homes will still carry a pricetag of what some estimate will be about $25,000 more than comparable homes, the energy savings each month will almost guarantee homeowners a return on their investment.
The development will offer a total of 48 homes for sale in the community, with floor plans ranging around 1,700 square feet. The first occupancies are scheduled for summer 2008. Three models are currently available for interested buyers to look at the kind of luxury offered by Concordia Homes.
