Chicago Spire brings unique architecture to Chicago
Saturday, May 31st, 2008The Chicago Spire is one of the most widely anticipated new developments to come to the real estate market in the city. The winding glass and steel tower was designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava.
According to the official website of the Spire, Calatrava says that he got the idea for this design from the smoke coming off of a Native American campfire. The tower will stand a total of 2,000 feet over the Chicago skyline, and will be the tallest residential tower in the entire United States.
The sales center for the Spire is already open. Interested buyers can stop by and check out the many floor plans currently available at the 18th floor of the NBC tower. The Chicago Spire will offer nearly 1,200 luxury condominiums, with floor plans ranging from studio units to lavish multi-floor penthouses.
Prices for these units start in the $700s for studio units. The largest penthouse unit is priced at $40 million, the highest price for any piece of residential real estate in the history of the Chicago real estate market.
Plans call for completion of the project in 2010. In the meantime, sales representatives will be traveling the world over to present this unique project to international buyers.
