A Better Way To Find Your Next Home
There was an interesting study released last summer comparing the results obtained by "internet buyers" versus "traditional buyers" in the real estate market. In fact this study has been done yearly by the California Association of Realtors since 2000. The most recent results completed in June of 2004 noted that the upfront research done by internet buyers gives them a clearer sense of market conditions and enables them to act more quickly to find, bid and close escrow on the home of their choice.
Because they were better educated and more savvy about the market, internet buyers spent less time looking for their home once they began working with their Realtor (1.9 weeks on average compared to 7.1 weeks for a traditional buyer). According to C.A.R. President Ann Pettijohn, "Internet buyers turned to Realtors for their interpretation of that information, and for their expertise and judgment throughout the home buying process.
"The expertise and professional advice provided by RealtorsĀ® creates value over and above the market and property information itself, even when the buyers obtain that information on their own.
"Internet buyers were more inclined to view their relationship with their Realtors as a partnership," she said. "They looked for speed and efficiency, and they valued timely communications."
Sure, that all sounds dandy fine swell, BUT, buying a house is a big deal. For many folks, it's the largest transaction of their life time. Not only that, it's not just a house, it's going to be your home⦠where you pull up your car, where you sit down to dinner, where you seek refuge from the demands of the world outside, where you celebrate the milestones and special occasions of your life.
