Water Troubles Continue To Worry Western U.S.

The western part of the United States is going into its sixth year in a
row of extreme drought conditions. But even though this dry spell is a big
worry, some are still more concerned about lingering water troubles after
the drought is over. With population in western states exploding and a
whole host of environmental concerns to deal with, water troubles may be a
major issue for the foreseeable future.

Officials with the Las Vegas Valley Water District are trying to change
the way people in Las Vegas think about water usage. For example, they are
spending millions of dollars to pay homeowners to change out wasteful turf
lawns for more drought-tolerant landscaping.
